Despite all championships in Switzerland have been put to an end today, EHC Kloten will make the case for their promotion.

In addition to the decision regarding the crowning of a champion for the shortened 2019-20 season, tomorrow the assembly of the National League and Swiss League clubs will also have to discuss the possibility of EHC Kloten being promoted to the National League.

Among others, EHC Kloten will probably also bring these arguments to the table: they finished the regular season at the top of the standings and together with EHC Visp, which finished fourth, they are the only two clubs in the playoff semifinals that actually applied for a promotion in the event of winning the Swiss League championship. Moreover, an average of 4809 fans attended EHCK's games, a number higher than those of HC Davos (4444) and the SC Rapperswil-Jona Lakers (4050).

According to the Blick, however, the proposal will probably fall through: an undisclosed manager of one of the other clubs says that EHC Kloten did not achieve the promotion in sporting terms, while another manager highlights the fact that a National League with 13 teams would cause a financial loss to each club as the money coming from broadcasting rights would be divided by 13 instead of among the current twelve clubs.

Nonetheless, in order to get the proposal through, EHC Kloten will need a three-quarters majority at tomorrow's assembly.
