Swiss Ice Hockey

After the decision of the Federal Council that major events will be allowed from October, the clubs have agreed on a later start.

The new season will definitely start in October

In today's extraordinary league assembly, the clubs have decided to not start the new season as planned on September 18, but on October 1 (National League) or October 2 (Swiss League), respectively.

Moreover, the clubs announce that they are trying to work out a uniform solution in terms of stadium capacity with politicians and the cantonal health directors and try to gain a permanent permit for the entire season. Their demand is to play the upcoming season with at least the full seating capacity of the respective arenas.

The clubs have also approved the framework for a protection concept: everyone will have to wear masks in the arenas, there will only be seats, fans will have to register, and there will be no fans of the visiting team allowed. The clubs are also recommended to take the body temperature of every spectator before entering the arena.

As for the players, they will have to be tested for Covid-19 three days before the start of the season and during the championship as soon as symptoms arise. If a player tests positive, the club will have to follow instructions of the cantonal health services.
