"We have successfully sold the TV rights, concluded all sponsoring agreements, and the national teams, national league as well as the junior and amateur league are well underway," Furrer explains. "Therefore, it's the right time to hand over these duties to a new person."
Furrer took over the SIHF's presidency from Philippe Gaydoul in 2012, and was initially confirmed in his position for another four years in August 2015. The two vice-presidents Jean-Marie Viaccoz and Michael Rindlisbacher will now step in ad-interim, until the League's next general assembly in 2018.
