As the 30-year-old tells the Journal du Jura, his focus has shifted on his family since he became a father last year. "Devoting myself fully to the national team requires sacrifices that I am not necessarily ready to make anymore," Hofer explains. "At 30, it's time for me to focus on something else."
The Austrian with a Swiss player's license, however, has not yet officially announced his retirement from the national team. "I'm just waiting for the right moment," he says to the same source. "Maybe at the end of the season."
