With the Bakersfield Condors, the AHL-affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers, McFarland has signed a one-year deal through the 2018-19 season. In his career, the 26-year-old has already appeared in 197 games in the AHL for the San Antonio Rampage and the Portland Pirates.
At the beginning of the past season, McFarland joined HC La Chaux-de-Fonds, coming from SaiPa Lappeenranta in the Finnish Liiga. For HCC, he suited up in only eleven games last season and put up a total of seven points (six goals).
