The Carolina Hurricanes assigned eight of their players to their AHL affiliate, the Charlotte Checkers today. Steven Lorentz, Cliff Pu, Aleksi Saarela, Spencer Smallman, Josiah Didier, Josh Wesley and Jeremy Helvig have been cut from the Canes, just like Fora.
The defender signed a two-year, two-way deal with the Hurricanes back in June. He has a cap hit of $725,000. However, in the AHL, his salary will only be at $70,000 per year, as per CapFriendly.
Fora captained HC Ambri-Piotta last season and recorded six goals and 22 assists in 53 games.
