The New Jersey Devils announced two cuts from their roster today. One of them was the Swiss goaltender.

Former SCL Tigers' goalie Akira Schmid
Remo Max Schindler

Akira Schmid has been assigned to the Devils’ AHL affiliate, the Utica Comets. The 21-year-old goaltender will thus start his first professional season in the AHL.

Schmid played in the USHL for the past three seasons. He was drafted by the Devils in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft and was signed by the NHL team this past May.
