According to information obtained by Expressen-blogger Johan Svensson, Thuresson has agreed to terms with HV71's team manager Johan Hult. Several teams had taken an interest in the free agent, among them teams from Germany and Sweden.

The 30-year-old forward joined the SCL Tigers from the Kunlun Red Star (KHL) at the beginning of December 2017. He recorded seven goals and six assists in 23 games for them.
