In March, Sportsbladet reported that Johan Fransson was fairly close to signing a three-year contract with Timrå IK. However, with the team being relegated to the HockeyAllsvenskan that deal fell through.
According to nd.se (relayed by hockeysverige.se), the 34-year-old defenseman is now on the verge of signing with Leksands IF - the team which won the SHL qualifier and is responsible for Timrå being relegated to Sweden's second-tier league.
Johann Fransson has been in Switzerland since 2014. He played one season for the SC Rapperswil-Jona Lakers and then joined GSHC in 2015. This past season, he recorded seven goals and 15 assists in 36 games.
