The 18-year-old defender, who might get picked in the first round of Thursday's NHL Draft, already has concrete plans for his future.

Leksands IF

"My and my agent's plan is to return to Leksand at least for another year to continue working and developing," Lian Bichsel tells the Falu-Kuriren (relayed by hockeysverige.se). "I want to improve a lot from last season. I do not intend to rush over to the NHL too quickly." Bichsel's contract with Leksand runs through the 2022-23 season.

Bichsel is a potential first round pick in Thursday's NHL Draft. In view of the draft, all NHL teams have shown interest in the young defender. "I think only five other players have been interviewed by all the teams," Bichsel says. "It shows that it is something special, so it feels good."

The 2022 NHL Draft takes place on Thursday and Friday, July 7 and 8, in Montréal's Centre Bell. In the NHL Central Scouting's final ranking of European skaters, Lian Bichsel has been ranked 9th.
