Johan Svensson (Expressen) had reported in mid-June that the 28-year-old was interested in signing with a Swiss team. According to the American's agent, he had several offers from Swedish teams on the table but would have preferred to sign with a team in Switzerland.

However, it seems like this wish was not fulfilled as he has now agreed to terms with HV71. Last season, Sweatt appeared in 51 games for Luleå Hockey and managed to score 24 points (16 goals, eight assists).
