As SKA St. Petersburg announces, they have signed Patrik Hersley to a one-year contract extension. The Swede will thus not join a Swiss team for the upcoming season.

The forward told Sydsvenskan at the beginning of May that he would either stay with St. Petersburg or join a Swiss team for the upcoming season. RSI also reported that HC Lugano had shown interest in the 30-year-old defenseman.

The defender, who won the Gagarin Cup with his team this past season, scored 31 points (19 of which he recorded in the playoffs) in 39 games for SKA this season.
