The 40-year-old Finn has agreed on a two-year contract with Liiga's JYP Jyväskylä through to the 2021-22 season.

Jukka Varmanen
SC Bern

"Varmanen is a great addition to JYP's coaching staff. He was clearly our number one choice for the upcoming season and we are really pleased that we got him to Jyväskylä," JYP's team manager Mikko Viitanen explains.

Varmanen was hired by SC Bern last summer and coached the National League team together with Samuel Tilkanen as assistants of first Kari Jalonen and later on Hans Kossmann, who replaced Jalonen as head coach at the end of January.

With this signing, JYP Jyväskylä has completed their coaching staff for the upcoming season. It will consist of former EHC Kloten head coach Pekka Tirkkonen and his two assisants Jukka Varmanen and Ari Santanen.
