(AUT) ICE Hockey League

According to the Austrian newspaper Kleine Zeitung, the goal is to have a maximum of four import-players on each team by 2030.

There will be fewer imports in the Austrian ICEHL.

Currently, each of the 14 teams of the Austrian ICE Hockey League (ICEHL) is allowed to field ten import-players plus two U24-players or three U22-players. This, however, is supposed to change in the coming years. The Austrian Ice Hockey Federation has decided to reduce the number of imports in the long term, the Kleine Zeitung writes. In a first step from ten to eight, and then to four imports until 2030.

The Austrian federation is thus going in the opposite direction in the ICEHL than the National League. The Swiss top-level clubs have only recently decided to tie the number of import-players from 2022-23 to the number of the teams participating in the league; with 13 teams, five import-players will be allowed, with 14 teams, six imports.
