Having sustained a knee injury in an off-ice practice, the forward will miss the first part of the upcoming season.

The 35-year-old Czech suffered an injury to the ligaments of his left knee, sidelining him for about four months and thus the start of the season, his club HC Ambrì-Piotta announced.

In 51 games for the Biancoblu last season, Novotný recorded four goals and eleven assists. He joined Ambrì right at the start of the season on September 20 of last year.
