Medical Report

The veteran forward has been dealing with knee problems since June 2020.

This season, Thomas Rüfenacht has been healthy only for eight games.

In agreement with the club and the team doctor, Thomas Rüfenacht has decided to end his season and rather focus on fully recovering from his knee problems. Back in June, Rüfenacht sustained an injury that initially responded well to some treatments but that then required surgery in November. Rüfenacht is under contract with SC Bern until the end of the 2021-22 season.

The 36-year-old reveals to Blick that this injury is worrying him: "I went through all the phases, was frustrated, angry and sad. I still want to win. But now suddenly my career is in question. I never thought it could end like this. Even though I'm not at that point yet."

SC Bern also gives an update on Gregory Sciaroni and Eric Blum: Sciaroni, who injured his knee at the beginning of January, is recovering as planned and is expected to return with the team at the beginning of April. As for Blum, he is still dealing with a severe concussion he suffered on February 14. Blum is not expected to return any time soon.
