Medical Report

According to Blick, the forward is still months away from making a comeback.

Thomas Rüefenacht has been dealing with knee problems since June 2020 and underwent knee surgery in November. In March 2021, SC Bern announced that Rüefnacht would not return to the lineup and focus on rehabbing his knee.

However, two months later he had to undergo another surgery to fix the meniscus and cartilage damage in his knee. While he is now back in the gym, he is still expected to miss several months (after his surgery his recovery time was estimated to be nine to twelve months).

"If I am still not ready at the end of the season but feel I could still play, I will continue," Rüefenacht tells Blick. "But if it doesn't work out, it is not a tragedy. I am not 25 anymore."
