Champions Hockey League

The Champions Hockey League's general assembly took place in Prague today. On the agenda was, amongst other things, electing a new chairman. They found him in the ZSC Lions' CEO Peter Zahner.

"It is a great honor and a great pleasure. It is gonna be a challenge, as the former president did a great job in the past four years," Zahner stated after his election. He also added that he would first touch base with the board members, in order to start planning the future. He already stated, however, that they would definitely need to look for ways to attract more spectators to the tournament.

The general assembly also decided that a chairman would only be allowed to stay in office for three years. Board members, on the other hand, will be able to stay for a maximum of three terms (one term being three years). They also elected two new board members: Håkan Loob, Vice-President of the Alliance of European Ice Hockey Clubs, representing the Swedish Clubs on the CHL Board, and Franz Reindl, President of the German Ice Hockey Association and IIHF Council Member, representing the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) on the CHL Board.
