Due to the current situation in Belarus, the CHL's Board of Directors has decided to withdraw the wild card of Yunost Minsk.

The Belarusian champion, opponent of HC Fribourg-Gottéron in the group stage, will thus not participate in the 2021-22 edition of the Champions Hockey League as there are "too many unpredictabilities for all involved stakeholders," especially when it comes to travel restrictions and flight disruptions.

"It is a prerequisite for our pan-European competition that teams, fans, officials, sponsors/partners and service providers can travel and stay safely. Unfortunately, this is currently not granted for travel to and from Belarus," the CHL board writes.

While the Board has not yet decided if another team will be invited in Yunost Minsk's place, they emphasize that Belarus "with its vital history in the CHL" remains a respected partner.
