Andrighetto and his Colorado Avalanche were knocked out of the playoffs by the Nashville Predators. He is thus able to join the national team. Columbus Blue Jackets' defenseman Dean Kukan will also join the Swiss for their preparation for the World Championship in Copenhagen.

As previously announced by his team, Mirco Müller will also be available to Patrick Fischer for the tournament. However, Nico Hischier will not be able to participate in the World Championship. According to the Devils, Hischier played the entire season with a chronic left wrist/hand injury. While he will not require surgery, he will have to keep his hand immobilized for a couple of weeks.
