A year ago, the Swiss national team won the silver medal at the IIHF Worlds in Denmark. Asked by journalist Frank Stettler of the Freiburger Nachrichten if this means that the goal within the national team is to win the gold medal this year in Bratislava, the 25-year-old says with a smile: "As far as I know, yes."

Moreover, Bertschy says that it is also his personal goal to improve this year. With an NHL out-clause in his contract with Lausanne HC, the World Championship might also open doors overseas: "Honestly, I haven't given it much thought lately," he says. "But of course, if something comes up, I'm certainly not going to say no."
