According to Le Matin Dimanche, the sum will be divided equally between Infront Sports & Media and Swiss Ice Hockey. According to Jean-Marie Viaccoz, one of the board members, the insurance had been a sine qua non condition by the IIHF.
"The idea is to use this amount [CHF 6.7 million] to help our young players and young referees," Marc-Anthony Anner, vice-president of Swiss Ice Hockey, states. The SIHF still hopes that they will be able to host another World Championship in 2026.
