The IIHF has decided: Worlds 2021 in Latvia.

Initially planned to take place in Latvia and in Belarus, the 2021 World Championship will be disputed only in Riga, the capital of Latvia. The confirmation of Riga as the sole host comes two weeks after the decision of the IIHF to withdraw the tournament from Minsk, Belarus. The tournament is scheduled to take place from May 21 to June 6.
IIHF President René Fasel and the Council believe that keeping the whole tournament in one country is the safest and most cost-effective way to operate the event: "We can find cost-effective solutions to implement a bubble concept, but also we can put ourselves in a ready position to welcome fans to the World Championship if it is safe to do so.”
