Hostettler was with HCC for three years, playing 134 Swiss League games for them (three goals, 22 assists). Before that, he was with Martigny Red Ice, HC Ajoie and again La-Chaux-de-Fonds. He made his NLB-debut in the 2003-2004 season with EHC Biel.
