Aeschlimann retired from professional hockey at the end of last season but will continue to play hockey in the second league for SC Altstadt Olten. He will join some former teammates there, among them Romano Pargätzi, Martin Wüthrich, and Remo Meister.

EHC Olten decided in mid-April not to extend 37-year-old Aeschlimann's contract for another season. He played 16 seasons for the team, suiting up for them over 700 times. Last season, he recorded one goal and six assists in 60 games.
