As the club writes, Schläpfer wants to focus on his studies and therefore steps down as a professional hockey player. With SC Rheintal, he has made his first steps on the ice at the very beginning of his career.

The 21-year-old winger has been a part of HC Davos' organisation during this past five years. He mainly suited up for the Elite Juniors but appeared in eight games in the National League as well. This past season, Schläpfer played with HC Thurgau (on loan) and was able to score three goals and 12 assists in 46 games.
