In Swiss women’s hockey, there is no way around the Lions’ organization. The Lionesses clinched their fifth SWHL A title yesterday. Their partner team, the GCK Lions, won the SWHL B championship. Nonetheless, this dominant victory for the Lionesses with three wins (4-3, 4-2, 3-0) was rather unexpected. They kept themselves apart from Lugano throughout these games and laid the foundation for this title with a victory in Lugano on Saturday. In this game, the decisive goals were scored in the last ten minutes.

It was a key factor that the Lions’ top scorers Isabel Waidacher (three goals, four assists), Nina Waidacher (one goal, four assists), and Christine Meier (three goals, one assist) returned to their previous form after a rather lackluster performance in the semi-final. Unlike their opponents from Lugano: The Ticinese’s outstanding players from the semifinal against Neuchâtel –Romy Eggimann (1 goal), Rebecca Kohler (one assists), and Evelina Raselli (two assists), were not on top of their game.
