ZSC's women's team was rejuvenated for the 2018-19 season after many top players left the club (e.g. Alina Müller to America, Isabel Waidacher to Sweden) or ended their successful careers (e.g. Christine Meier, Katrin Nabholz, Sara Benz) at the end of last season. With their second straight Cup win, the Lionesses have set an exclamation mark.

After eliminating the SC Weinfelden Ladies with a 4-2 win in the semifinals on Saturday, they defeated frontrunner HC Ladies Lugano for the Cup win on Sunday. Dominique Rüegg (1-0) and 14-year-old Alina Marti (2-1) scored the winning goals in front of 664 spectators. The Neuchâtel Hockey Academy celebrated a 3-1 victory over Weinfelden in the game for the 3rd place.

In the Championship (SWHL A), the ZSC Lions are currently ranked 3rd in the standings. On February 2, they will play their last game of the Masterround before the playoff start on the weekend of February 16/17. It is already clear that the Lionesses will play SC Reinach in the semifinals (best-of-five).
