For Laure Aeschimann, president of the women’s hockey board, this second edition of the re-introduced Swiss Women’s Hockey Cup as well as the final tournament in Kreuzlingen was a complete success. “Not only did more teams compete in this year’s edition, but this special mode also allowed several teams of the lower tiers to have interesting games against SWHL A teams.” Aeschimann applauded the organizer of the final tournament. “This weekend was exactly what we had hoped for when we reintroduced this cup: an event for women’s hockey.”

HC Lugano earned this Cup victory with two convincing games: a 6-0 win over BOMO Thun in the semi-final followed by a 3-2 victory against the Lions. Evelina Raselli was the team’s top scorer, who scored four goals and two assists.

The Bianconere scored their first goal of the final 48 seconds into the first period. They scored another one in the first period before the Lions equalized the game in the second period. Ten minutes before the end of the third period, however, Raselli scored the game-winning goal.
