The official goal for the Swiss women’s national team at the World Championship in Plymouth (Michigan) is clear-cut: stay in the top division. In Group B with Czechia, Sweden, and Germany, it can be anyone’s game.

After the successful qualification for the upcoming Olympic Games, Daniela Diaz’s team has one main goal the upcoming World Championship: to stay in the top division. Due to the special mode of the women’s tournament, the team has to be cautious. The top two teams of Switzerland’s Group B will advance to the quarterfinal, the lower ranked two teams will have to play a best-of-three relegation series. “In this group, the small details will be important,” head coach Diaz believes. And it won't be an easy task for her team: games against Czechia, Sweden, and Germany always tend to be tight battles.

Diaz’s team also includes two World Championship Rookies. The 16-year-old forwards Rahel Enzler and Lisa Rüedi are set to make their debut on the big stage. They will play alongside a team of experienced national team players, which includes six “imports.” Goaltenders Florence Schelling and Janine Alder, defender Livia Altmann and forwards Phoebe Staenz, Lara Stalder, and Anja Stiefel normally play overseas or in Sweden.
