Zahner, 21, suited up for EHC Winterthur via B-license last season and recorded four goals and four assists in 45 games. Since joining Kloten in 2014, he either played for Winterthur or Kloten's Elite Juniors. Before that, he was with the Pikes Oberthurgau.

Another new player is Toni Szabó. The 19-year-old forward was in the SC Rapperswil-Jona Lakers' system for the last two years but joined HC Ambrì-Piotta's youth department halfway through this past season. He even suited up for Ambrì-Piotta in one game of the relegation round.

The oldest of the five new ones is the 23-year-old Alexander Tkachenko. The Russian with a Swiss license was with EHC Basel/KLH last season, but also played for the Pikes EHC Oberthurgau. Before that, he was with the SC Rapperswil-Jona Lakers, but only has 13 NLB-games with them in the 2015-2016 season and mostly suited up for EHC Wil and EHC Frauenfeld.

Cyril Bischofberger and Cedric Sieber are the two remaining new players of Chur. They both are 19-year-old forwards. Bischofberger was with Kloten's junior department for the last two years, but also played for EHC Wil. Sieber was in the organization of EHC Biel during last season.
