"Roman is interested in fighting for the nomination, but unfortunately he is not vaccinated," Petr Nedvěd, the Czech team's general manager, tells Hokej.cz. "That's a pretty big problem. Not being vaccinated equals not going to the Olympics. [...] If the situation doesn't change in any way on his part, it's unrealistic."
While being vaccinated is not a requirement for someone to be able to participate in the Olympic Games, non-vaccinated participants will have to serve a 21-day quarantine upon arrival in Beijing. Since the hockey season is only on a break for the duration of the Olympics, a three-week quarantine seems mostly impossible for hockey players.
Roman Červenka last played for the Czech national team in the 2017-18 season and was also part of the Czech team for the 2018 Winter Olympics. The forward is currently under contract with the SC Rapperswil-Jona Lakers. In 21 games, he has recorded eight goals and 19 assists.
