Vermin suffered an MCL injury in the game against HC Davos on Saturday. He will be out of the lineup for four weeks and thus unable to play in the Olympics. This grants Hofmann the chance to play in his first Olympic Games for Switzerland.

The 25-year-old forward has recorded 20 goals and 15 assists in 39 games for HC Lugano this season. For Switzerland, he recorded one goal and two assists in seven games this season.
