As the Kloten Flyers inform, their captain Victor Stancescu has to hang up his skates with immediate effect. Due to hip problems, the forward has to put an early end to his professional ice hockey career.

The 30-year-old had undergone hip surgery twelve years ago without a possible prognosis for long-term effects at the time. The situation has gotten worse over time and this has led to several tests being carried out before the start of this season, which have now revealed that a continuation of the forward's playing career is not possible.

Victor Stancescu made his National League A debut with the Kloten Flyers at the age of 16 and has since then appeared in 585 NLA games over 14 seasons with Kloten, scoring 129 goals and 123 assists.

The winger also played 46 games for the Swiss national team and participated in two World Championships for Switzerland in 2011 and 2014. (lcu)
