As Genève-Servette HC's head coach Chris McSorley tells the Neue Luzerner Zeitung, they have decided to no longer persue Raphael Diaz for the 2016-17 season. The reason? Money.

The Greants opted to put an end to negotiations, when the New York Rangers defenseman's salary expectation went over CHF 700,000. However, as journalist Nicola Berger writes, McSorley has a history of bending the truth a bit when it comes to new acquisitions. If true, however, only EV Zug, HC Lugano, and the ZSC Lions remain in the race.

Diaz is currently playing for the Rangers' AHL team, the Hartford Wolf Pack. While he is not content with the current situation, he will likely end the season in North America, as the Rangers are not ready to terminate his contract. He is currently sidelined with an injury. (mso)
