In an interview with the Berner Zeitung, team manager Alex Chatelain talks about SC Bern's roster for the 2016-17. For now, only one import forward is clearly set for the next season: Andrew Ebbett.

Cory Conacher is in possession of an NHL out clause, so, while he has a contract until 2017, he might leave Bern into the direction of North America, if he gets the opportunity. Sean Bergenheim and Trevor Smith have both an option in their contract, which would allow Chatelain to extend them, if he chooses to.

The future of Gian-Andrea Randegger is not yet clear, but Chatelain speaks "highly of his character", but also says that "SCB's goal has to be to recruit young players out of our own development system." As the same source reports, Martin Ness has good chances of staying with the Bears, as he would "stabilise the central axis".

As for young forward Nico Hischier, nothing has been decided yet: ""Of course we want him to take the next step with us. Depending on how Hischier decides, we have two or three spots left in the offense." Hischier has an out clause for the CHL. Julien Privet and Dario Meyer (Edmonton Oil Kings, SCB junior) could also be an option: "These are two players who could fuel the competition."

As for the head coaching question, Chatelain insists that while they are talking with Jalonen, he is not the only one they are interested in and nothing has been signed yet. As for his vision regarding the future of the club: "I want a fast and offensively strong SCB and that every player identifies himself 100 % with the club." (mso)
