The SC Rapperswil-Jona Lakers announced this afternoon that forward Niki Altorfer (photo) will join them as of next season. The 25-year-old has signed a two-year contract and will stay with the Lakers until 2018.

Altorfer is currently playing in his fourth season with EHC Visp. Over the course of his career, he has appeared in over 300 NLB games. This season thus far, he has played 26 games for Visp and managed to put up 18 points (eleven goals, seven assists).

Furthermore, the Lakers have extended the contracts of several player. Forwards Jan Vogel, Cédric Hüsler, and Reto Schmutz as well as defender Cyrill Geyer have all been signed to a one-year contract and will thus stay with the Lakers until 2017. (bsc)
