With the signing of Janick Schwendener, it is now clear that Melvin Nyffeler will leave the SC Rapperswil-Jona Lakers at the end of the season. The Lakers just could not find an agreement with the young goalie.

"Melvin is without doubt the best NLB goaltender", tells Roger Maier Die Südostschweiz. They would have liked to keep the netminder and they had discussions with Nyffeler about a contract extension, but they did not find a solution that satisfied both parties.

Nyffeler will for sure find a new home for the upcoming season, as several NLA team are interested in him, among them EHC Biel, as Martin Steinegger told the Journal de Jura at the end of January. This season, the 21-year-old netminder posted a .928 save percentage in 27 games. (mso)
