The 22-year-old forward was a restricted free agent after the expiration of his contract and the Canucks thus had the right to exclusively negotiate with the winger. While their qualifying offer to Bärtschi was rejected in mid-July, the two parties have now found a resolution to keep the forward in Vancouver for one more year. As it is reported in the Province, the one-year deal is worth $900,000.
Bärtschi had been traded to Vancouver from the Calgary Flames at the trade deadline in March. Since then, he has appeared in five NHL games for the Canucks (two goals) and also made an immediate impact at the AHL level with the Utica Comets, scoring 15 goals and 15 assists in 31 games. (lcu)
