According to a report from the New York Post, the New York Rangers promised that they will review Raphael Diaz' situation by the end of the month. They did not promise, however, to release him from his contract.

The Rangers also did not hint at the possibility of assigning the 29-year-old defenseman to a European team. If Diaz played in Europe during the season, he would have to go through waivers in order to return to the NHL. Therefore, it could well be that the Rangers would not want to take this risk, the same source writes.

Also Raphael Diaz' agent, Ritch Winter, says to the New York Post that the Swiss international has no intention to leave: "He signed with the Rangers to play with the Rangers, and that remains Raffi's intention." (tme)
