Spengler Cup

The ZSC Lions are one of the teams HC Davos's organising committee for the Spengler Cup wanted to have in the tournament again for a long time. However, this is not going to happen in the near future.

The Lions had already denied a request by Davos for this year's Spengler Cup and CEO Peter Zahner believes it was the right decision, as he tells Sportinformation: "The strain on the team would have been too high in light of the program of our players. And when I see how thinned out our roster was before the Spengler Cup break, it was the right decision."

As Zahner further elaborates, the ZSC Lions are not planning to take part in the Spengler Cup as long as their calendar is this full. The Lions last won the traditional tournament in 1952. (mso)
