Rumor

With eight defensemen on their roster - nine when they come to terms with Michael Del Zotto - and cap issues as well as the urge to get younger, something's got to give on the Philadelphia Flyers' blue line.

In a wrap-up of possible trade candidates of the Philadelphia Flyers' defensive corps, Comcast Sportsnet also sees Swiss power play specialist Mark Streit as an interesting asset. Especially in a team that is looking to get younger and has cap issues, the 37-year-old with a cap-hit of $5.25 million for another two years deserves a closer look.

"It's clear that Streit can still produce," Comcast Sportsnet writes and adds that "a team looking to add a veteran point-producer along its blue line could take a chance on Streit." Last season, Streit, who has a limited no-trade clause in his contract, scored nine goals and added 43 assists for 52 points, of which 30 came on the power play. (tme)
