Heinz Ehlers is the new head coach of the SCL Tigers. The team has confirmed what some media outlets reported yesterday. He has signed a two-year contract until 2018 with an option for an additional season.

For the time being, the 50-year-old Dane will be assisted by Juhani Suomalainen, the Elite A coach of the Tigers. Ehlers has thus found a new job after he had to leave Lausanne HC in spring despite a valid contract. After Biel, Langenthal, and Lausanne, the Emmental is Ehlers' fourth workplace in Switzerland.

In addition, the Tigers announced that former head coach Scott Beattie and his assistant coach Rolf Schrepfer will have to leave the organization with immediate effect. Beattie joined the Tigers in March during the playout final. His contract would have been valid until the end of this season.
