Siegenthaler was drafted by the Capitals in the second round of the 2015 NHL draft but continued to play for ZSC during the 2015-16 season, albeit on loan. Now, he will return to Zurich once again. Due to family issues, Siegenthaler did not appear in a single pre-season game for the Capitals, as the Washington Post reported earlier this week.
Last season, Siegenthaler played 44 games for the ZSC Lions and put up eight points. At the end of the season, he played another six games for the Hershey Bears, the Capitals' AHL affiliate, and scored one assist.
#Caps release Jonas Siegenthaler from their training camp roster. He will play for the Zurich Lions (Switzerland) this season.
