Rumors about a potential dismissal of Shedden have circulated in the league for the past months. Now, the Bianconeri have had enough. Greg Irleand will act as new head coach of Lugano until the end of the 2016-17 season. Currently, the team is busy fixing the last details with Ireland, who should coach the team tomorrow if everything goes according to plan.
Irleand already coached HC Lugano in the postseason of the 2010-11 season together with Mike McNamara. Last season, he was the head coach of DEL team Adler Mannheim, but was let go last February. Jussi Silander, who will be his assistant coach, is already under contract with HC Lugano, as he is the current assistant coach of the HCB Ticino Rockets.
