The 22-year-old forward has a valid contract with the Wild until the end of the 2017-18 season. However, Bertschy has mostly suited up for their AHL affiliate the Iowa Wild during this term. In only five NHL games, he was able to put up one assist.

Nevertheless, it remains to be seen if Bertschy will get an opportunity to play in the NHL after this season. However, if Bertschy decides to return to Switzerland, he would be the second Swiss player from the NHL for Lausanne HC. At the beginning of the year, 24heures reported that the Lions have agreed to a five-year deal with Joël Vermin.

According to players' agent Georges Müller, however, Bertschy will stay in North America next season.
