As Mario Pouliot tells Le Nouvelliste, he would like to continue his work in Sierre, but "I haven't had my mind on it until now." Alain Bonnet, president of HC Sierre, confirms to the same source that the two parties are indeed in discussions and that Pouliot is their number 1 candidate.

"We still have to carry out a detailed analysis of the last few weeks, but we're satisfied with his work. [...] The success of the playoffs was not decisive in terms of a possible extension. We also wanted to assess his management," Bonnet said. They also want to add two assistant coaches to the coaching staff.

As for the players. Eric Castonguay and Cory Emmerton are at the end of their respective contracts. It is not yet clear, whether Castonguay will retire, although there seem to be rumors that he might become Sierre's next assistant coach.

"No decision has yet been taken," Bonnet said. "Eric Castonguay has given a lot to the club, both in human and sporting terms. The day he retires, we plan to offer him another position within the club."

Whether Guillaume Asselin, currently under contract with HC Ajoie, will return to Sierre, is also not yet clear: "Many discussions are open, and they include him too. But there's no urgency on either side. It's an open file."
