The New Jersey Devils have assigned Akira Schmid to their AHL affiliate, the Utica Comets. The 23-year-old spent the first part of the season in the NHL, making 13 starts and appearing in a total of 15 games. He averaged 3.26 goals against per game, while posting a save percentage of .893.
The Devils have recently called up Nico Daws from the Comets, so Schmid's assignment was to be expected.
