During his short stint with the New Jersey Devils, Akira Schmid was the backup goaltender in the five games the Devils played and thus did not step on the ice. In Utica, Schmid will get the chance to get in some game action.
This season, the 23-year-old goalie was on the game sheet of the Devils 15 times and suited up twelve times for the Utica Comets.
