NLA - According to what one can read in today's Neue Luzerner Zeitung, EV Zug and defenseman Romain Loeffel have agreed on a two-year deal. However, there's one question mark remaining.

At the end of January, the 23-year-old defenseman Romain Loeffel was part of this highly debated trade between HC Fribourg-Gottéron and Genève-Servette HC in which also Jérémie Kamerzin and John Fritsche were involved.

With Fribourg-Gottéron, Loeffel would still be under contract until 2015 and his agents believe that this contract is invalid since Loeffel's trade to Geneva. Thus, a new contract would have to be negotiated. In other words: Loeffel is free to leave.

However, this is still an ongoing legal procedure. Nevertheless, Romain Loeffel and EV Zug have already agreed on a two-year contract. Zug has nothing to lose as they are not involved in the legal process.

Furthermore, the Neue Luzerner Zeitung writes that if Loeffel's contract will officially be voided and he is going to move to Zug, EVZ will probably sign three import-forwards in addition to Josh Holden, who is still under contract until 2016. The last word on this topic, however, will have the new coach - and Doug Shedden's successor is not yet found.
